ALUMNI’S OFFICES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

HURAC SENIOR CHIEF COORDINATOR, BORI UNIT

ABOUT BARIKPOA OGBOMENE…

Barikpoa Ogbomene is a devoted Ogoni human rights activist who combines activism with his career and ensures that HURAC progress is secured.  He is now an alumnus of RivPolyCSS, division 1 and the leader of HURAC in Bori.  Presently, he is the Senior Chief Co-ordinator (SCC) and Chairman, HURAC Re-branding and Campaign Initiatives (HRCI).  He is in charge of all secondary schools and the Alumni in Bori.  He supersedes all activities of HURAC in Bori and beyond.  He is in the power to approve any newly established HURAC division and report all events and club activity to the I/R.   He was among the co-founder of HURAC in 2008 and has been very helping to the development of the club.  He facilitated the establishment of the club in many secondary schools in Bori including PTEC and ACGS all in Bori and GCHS Taabaa as well.  Also among his achievements were the supervision of the 2011 elections to ensure credibility and fairness and the construction of a HURAC banner for RivPolyCSS division 1.  He, with assistance from SorBari Eric, drafted the HURAC constitution for both school and Alumni and had produced printed copies of this constitution.  Amid his numerous aims for the club are:

1. to establish the club in almost all secondary schools in Ogoni, Nigeria and Africa at large

 2. all concerned school students will know their rights and how to claim them

3. to build a strong nation which would abide by the law of the land through HURAC

4. and finally to urge all HURAC members to promote human rights standard.

FORMER VICE PRESIDENT, DIV.1

ABOUT PRINCEWILL KEKA BENSON…

Princewill Keka Benson joined HURAC in 2009 and since then has been a devoted HURAC member.  He finds the club very interesting as it relates to his future career.  He has used his wisdom to add value to the club by campaigning and mobilising students to be members of the club.  He recently relinquished his office as the vice president of the division 1 to his successor and has now become an alumnus.  Here is a little excerpt from him…

“I was ranked the most social senior student based on my relationship with students in coalition with HURAC” .

At the moment, he serves as the Chief Co-ordinator of HURAC in AGS, Bori where he is planning a debate between HURAC AGS, Bori and his former division.  During his tenure as the VP of division 1, he was able to install a banner and signpost for the club.  His regime also witnessed the largest turn up of students due to numerous campaigns in his division.  He worked with the crew that established a division in PTEC, which, according to him, is ‘awaiting verification’.  He is presently among the HURAC Rebranding and Campaign Initiatives and hopes to succeed in spreading the good news around his vicinity.  He aims at taking the club to the next level.  The I/R recommends his efforts during his regime in division 1.

HURAC DEPUTY SENIOR CHIEF COORDINATOR, BORI UNIT

ABOUT SORBARI ERIC DONEH…

SorBari Eric Doneh is an inspiring, renowned HURAC member, who aims to propel the club to the apex.  He joined HURAC in 2009 and ever since then, has been very keen on the progress of the club.  He held the office of the Speaker during the Vaah/Samson-led administration (2009/2010, division 1) and was once the Chief Coordinator of CSS Bori.  Due to his high ambition to partner with other schools, he launched the club in CSS Bori with the assistance of the I/R and the present Senior Chief Coordinator, this has been his greatest achievement ever.  At the moment, he is the Deputy Senior Chief Coordinator (DSCC) in charge of Bori Unit.  He promises to proclaim HURAC all over the place and to install HURAC in all secondary schools in Ogoni.

He pointed out some of the challenges facing the club to be negligence on the part of MOSOP.

He has this to say…

”the problem now is that the people leading us are not supporting uswe are ready but our superior are weakening our spirits”.

He reiterated that they no longer organise seminars and workshops for the students again, and this has affected the growth and development of the club.  He urges the I/R to arrest the situation so that work can go on as usual in the club.

1st OFFICIAL VP, DIVISION 1

ABOUT SAMSON WOMENE LUCKY…

Samson Womene Lucky joined HURAC in 2009.  He has worked enormously hard for the club and has shown an epitome of a good leader amongst students and club members.  He was the first official Vice President of division 1 (2009/2010) during the Vaah-led administration.  He worked peacefully and cooperatively with Vaah campaigning about the club to all students and ensured that his co-leaders were performing their tasks at the appropriate time.  He was quite intolerance to indiscipline.  While serving as the VP of the club, he extended his services as the Resident Club Lecturer (RCL) under his division, teaching the students some of the fundamental human rights and how to advocate for their rights when they are being infringed upon.  He was always responsive to duty-calls at all time.  He is currently pursuing his career at one of the Nigerian Universities and hopes to return to HURAC as soon as possible.  To crown it all, he is worthy of emulation as a human right activist
